Michael Clarke discusses his personal branding

FORMER Australian Test captain Michael Clarke will discuss his personal brand as part of Liverpool’s Small Business Week Brunch on September 14.

He will talk about the advantages available to all businesses that are prepared to develop a brand that sets them apart from their competitors.

This year’s Small Business Week activities include advice for start-ups and existing businesses, as well as a special fun event for young entrepreneurs, Liverpool Mayor Ned Mannoun said.

“Branding is a major component for any businesses, big or small,” Cr Mannoun said.

“From a small grocer on Macquarie Street in Liverpool, through to a corporation like Westfield, each business has a distinctive brand – whether they consciously develop a brand or not.

“When small businesses invest in branding, it can boost their turnover and recognition of their business in the market place.”

The city of Liverpool successfully launched the Great South West brand in 2015 to capitalise on the area’s established reputation as a health and education hub, its cultural diversity, lifestyle, and proximity to Sydney’s second international airport.

“As a city, we recognise the importance of standing out, which is what branding can help to achieve,” Cr Mannoun said.

“One of our city’s best-known sportsmen is cricketer Michael Clarke. We are delighted to have him as the keynote speaker for our business brunch event, in partnership with NBN Co. We are also securing a panel of branding experts for this great event.”
