In an exclusive invitation-only red carpet event, the premiere of the series was screened at Event Cinemas Castle Hill on July 18.
The films, developed by Know My Life with support from Commonwealth Bank Australia (CBA) and NSW Rugby League, have been produced to showcase the work of KARI, the largest Aboriginal foster care agency in Australia.
KARI provides culturally specific foster care services, as well as access to quality and holistic programs targeted at Aboriginal families and youth.
KARI has established offices in South West Sydney, Western Sydney and Sydney Metro.
Coinciding with 2016 NAIDOC celebrations, the release of the six-part series which comprises of interviews with key KARI staff and supporters, starts with the initial red carpet screening of “The Paul Ralph and KARI Story”, featuring the life of KARI’s founder and KARI itself.
The intriguing piece tells the story of a man gripped with a deep passion for the plight of his people, and in particular for Aboriginal children living in foster care.
During the interview with Know My Life’s Nicole Baines, Paul expresses a deep conviction to bring about change in the disproportionate number of Indigenous children in foster care.
Statistics show that 40% of children in foster care in Australia are Aboriginal.
