TROPFEST LOCATION CHANGE

New plan as storms lash venue
The wild storms that lashed Parramatta last night have caused damage to the stage and screens for today’s planned Tropfest and Trop Jr events.

Event organisers have worked through the night to develop a plan to deliver the event in an alternate location within Parramatta Park. Tropfest encourages everyone to come today as planned, to support and celebrate the filmmakers and enjoy a quality night of free entertainment.

Tropfest Event Director Paul Kind said: “Parramatta was really the centre of the storms that raged across Sydney last night and the whole suburb experienced large amounts of damage. The entire Tropfest team havs rallied overnight to develop an alternate plan to screen our finalist films to a live audience.”

“While the site we had built in The Crescent at Parramatta Park cannot be used, we are fortunate that Rose Lawn, a safe, suitable location adjacent to the original site will be ready for fans to enjoy today. We will have a high quality LED screen and sound that won’t be on the grand scale we had hoped but it will be a great site for fans to experience Tropfest.”

“Tropfest and Trop Jr have always been about the filmmakers. Without them there would be no Tropfest, so we’re not going to let storms get in the way of celebrating their hard work,” Kind said.

Programming will still go ahead on time with Trop Jr at 4.45pm, Tropfest at 8pm, and Tropfair at Western Sydney University earlier in the day (1-3pm)Tropfest is supported by Foundation Partner CGU Insurance, Presenting Partner Melrose Park by PAYCE, Exclusive Automotive Partner Holden and Strategic Partners Western Sydney University, Parramatta Park Trust, and the City of Parramatta. Tropfest is also supported by Major Government Partner, Screen Australia, Official Radio Partner Nova 96.9 and Live Streaming Content Partner Facebook Australia. Tropfest is a proud highlight of Parramatta Park’s Crescent Summer Series.
