The precinct will feature 70 hectares of commercial land, 400 hectares of bulky good retailing and 206 hectares of industrial lands.
“Marsden Park is expected to become a future centre and employment hub for our city and the west region,” council said.
Ray Williams, Parliamentary Secretary for Western Sydney, when officially opening the new 256-hectare master-planned Sydney Business Park development within the precinct, said it would provide jobs as well as supporting by an injection of approximately $350 million in new infrastructure to the area.
"Sydney Business Park is nothing short of a phenomenal outcome, which through a $2 billion dollar investment will create 17,000 new jobs for much needed employment opportunities close to home for residents of Western Sydney, he said.
He said some of the biggest names in retail such as IKEA, Bunnings Warehouse, Masters Home Improvement, McDonald’s and Shell had been attracted to the precinct, along with US retail giant, Costco, which announced it would open a new store in the area.
Costco, which secured a 59,830-square-metre site, has lodged a planning proposal with Blacktown City Council, which when approved and constructed, would be the retailer’s sixth store to open in Australia, and is expected to provide an estimated 250 new employment opportunities.
Costco, headquarter in Auburn and with the three stores in Australia, recently won planning approval for a $40 million outlet, at Casula, which will include a 14,000-square-metre wholesale and retail warehouse.
