Vickie really is a TOP CHICK

 By Maria Silvestri

MEETING Vickie Robinson for the first time, I knew she had something to do with fashion, wasn’t sure exactly what, but I knew it she had this bright pink hair and a heap of flare about her.

I introduced myself and before we knew it hours had passed on our first meeting talking about the fuller fashion and how colour was still important to the ladies that were a fuller figured woman. I asked Vickie a few questions.

Why the name “TopChick”? – she explained that hubby (Gavin) and her  were doing a computer course over 20 years ago and Gavin had wrote on his computer screen saver, “A hell of a Guy” and Vickie wrote back saying she was a “TopChick”, it has stuck with her till she started her own business.

Why Australian Made? I really wanted to keep my products manufactured in Australia, I wanted to contribute to our country and its growth.

What is different with your styles and how do you come up with them?

Vickie says she keeps an eye on the trend in Europe and the USA for the coming seasons, the styles and the fabrics and I work with vendors to see what fabrics are going to be available and she designs the concepts around functionality.

“How I see them look on the body add my own theme such as zippers, swinging tops and patterns….our team imaginations go wild.  I want what we design to be different, we want ladies to walk down the street and not see another lady with the same clothes, so we only manufacture a limited amount of styles, sizes and garments,” she said.

“Our strategy is to bring couture design to the ladies at a reasonable retail price, which breaks all the business rules, but that is me, doing it differently.”

TopChick’s range is about making your shape work for you, for example there are some garments that have extra room on the hips, with smaller tops but when you wear them together it appears to elongate the frame.

Other designs have intersecting patterns that make a more your curvier features on the body look positive.

Vickie and I also talked about foundation garments, and how having the correct bra and shapewear will only enhance these already gorgeous styles that Vickie has produced.

The TopChick range is available online and there will be a huge fashion parade launch in September 2013 at the Bella Vista Hotel.

So go and have a look at TopChick’s range online, http://www.topchick.com.au buy Australian Made products, designed by our own Aussie TopChick - Vickie Robinson.

Vickie is also looking for agents to distribute her range too, so send her an e-mail at Vickie@topchick.com.au for more information and tell her I sent you.

Hints & Tips

One of the things Vickie and I also speak about is wearing the correct undergarments under clothing. We are both passionate about this and how it can really enhance your gorgeous garments.

On the Heavenly Curves front, I was lucky enough to be a guest speaker for a Mc Grath Foundation Fund raiser High Tea held at Gledswood Homestead and Winery out at Leppington, where we raised $2,500.

It was a great afternoon, educating women on the importance of being Bra fitted correctly and also to show ladies what ranges are available for women who loose a breast or breasts from cancer, and I am excited to be invited back to hold some more events later this year. I will keep you posted on the dates soon.
