Parramatta Mission launches Celebrity Football game to support meals program

EVERY year in Parramatta one organisation prepares over 33,000 meals for homeless people and they need help to ensure they are able to continue.

That organisation is Parramatta Mission and it’s been caring for people in Western Sydney for over 40 years.

To help raise funds Parramatta Mission is conducting the Parramatta Mission Celebrity football game in aid of Parramatta Mission’s Meals Plus Program.

Imagine pitting a team of key media celebrities and corporate giants against Parramatta Eels Legends in front of a packed Pirtek Stadium. That’s exactly what is going to happen on the afternoon of Saturday, December, 2014.

The AllStars team consisting of a number of key celebrities from business, entertainment, government and media including State Leader of the Opposition John Robertson MP, The Bogan Hunters, Hope 103 radio’s Aaron and Dan, 2GB’s Chris Smith, Bringing Sexy Back’s Cameron Byrne, Channel 10’s Adam Hawse and Masterchef finalist Jay Huxley, will test their skills against the Legends Team made up of past and present Parramatta Eels players including Nathan Cayless, Luke Burt and Nathan Hindmarsh.

It’s not just a football game either; there will be fun for the whole family with children’s rides, face painting, BBQs, a petting zoo, pony rides, a photo booth and an 85 piece marching band.

To top it all off, Timomatic and Darren Percival will be providing half time entertainment!

Tickets are available from www.ticketmaster.com.au and start at $8.

Would you like to be part of the All Stars team?

Five lucky people will have the opportunity to play on the field against their Eels heroes as members of the AllStars team. All they have to do is go to http://www.everydayhero.com.au/event/legendsVallstars And register to raise over $500 – the top five people raising the most will be placed in the team.

About Parramatta Mission

Parramatta Mission has been providing community services for over 40 years. Helping people who are homeless, people facing crisis and people living with mental illness.

Today, Parramatta Mission is one of the largest providers of community mental health services in New South Wales, as well as one of the largest providers of community services to people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Western Sydney.

Meals Plus Community Outreach Program

Meals Plus Community Outreach Program is the only day centre in Parramatta providing basic needs including breakfast and lunch five days a week, as well as shower and washing facilities and food parcels to support people who are homeless or disadvantaged.

Meals Plus successfully breaks the cycle of homelessness by providing quick solutions for people needing emergency support. At Meals Plus we are acutely aware of the link between this client group and food insecurity, long term health issues and the lack of housing.

Parramatta Mission staff and volunteers work intensively with chronically homeless men and women offering support, longer term case coordination and advocacy, to break the cycle. Meals Plus provides Early Intervention and Post Crisis support to people in need.
