The Appeal took place during the weekend of May 24 and 25 with over 4,690 collectors out knocking on doors
Also a further $70, 000 was raised at the business launch recently held at Rydges Hotel Parramatta, where over 140 business leaders attended to hear Catriona Noble, CEO and managing director McDonalds Australia, speak about the alignment with McDonalds and the Salvo’s.
Mr Joel Hollier was the testimonial speaker. Joel and his family lost their house in the recent Blue Mountains fire, he spoke passionately about the support that he and his family and the local community have received and continue to receive from the Salvation Army
“We thank Australians for their tremendous generosity towards The Salvation Army and encourage those who would still like to give to please send in their donations,” Joel told the audience.
“We also thank the many thousands of volunteers who assisted us this weekend in raising these vital funds. In particular, we were encouraged by the number of young people who chose to volunteer.
“We would also like to thank our corporate supporters. Westpac has supported The Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal, with more than 100 employees and over 10 branches participating in this year’s Doorknock.
“Other corporates include: JLL, Bunnings and Woolworths Ltd, along with many other businesses from the Greater West of Sydney”
