MORE PARKING FOR PENRITH BUSINESSES

275 additional spaces

PeENRITH Council and the Penrith CBD Corporation are boosting the number of temporary parking spaces in Penrith City Centre in the lead up to Christmas.

An additional 275 temporary car park spaces are available in three locations from 28 November to 2 January:

• The northern end of Penrith Paceway (100 spaces).
• Behind Woodriff Gardens Tennis Courts (about 130 spaces).
• Council’s Civic Centre Car Park (45 spaces).

Penrith Mayor John Thain said Council is keen to make life easier for shoppers, workers and people doing business in Penrith.

“The CBD Corporation and Council have made arrangements with Penrith Paceway to make the parking area within the Paceway (at the northern end adjacent to the pool) available,” Clr Thain said. “Penrith  Paceway is only 500 metres to High Street – so within easy access to Penrith shops.”

CBD Corporation CEO Gai Hawthorn said: “With many CBD businesses adding casual and additional staff for the busy Christmas period, we are grateful to Penrith Paceway and Penrith City Council for making the opportunity available to park locally. Shop and Dine Local just became easier this Christmas.”

The additional parking is a combination of all day and timed car spaces. Timed parking (in Council’s Civic Centre Car Park) enables a good turnover of cars to ensure that many more shoppers, than actual spaces, benefit.
