Entertainment, activities and fireworks planned are from 4.30pm to 9.30pm. The main stage at ‘Christmas in Parramatta’ will be hosted by Jimmy Giggles from ABC Kids and feature performances by much-loved characters Hoot and Hootabelle, as well as 2016 Parravision winners, JMA Entertainment and local school choirs.
New to the event this year will be a mobile kitchen hosted by celebrity chef Ben Milbourne, with Christmas-themed cooking demonstrations and cook-offs featuring Western Sydney Giants players.
“Christmas is a wonderful time of the year to enjoy with family and friends. We have a full program of activities for the whole family at ‘Christmas in Parramatta’ and I encourage everyone to come and celebrate with us,” City of Parramatta Administrator Amanda Chadwick said.
Food vendors including popular eatery Balls Sydney will offer meal deals for the whole family and markets stalls will showcase fresh produce and great Christmas gift ideas.
Other highlights will include a special visit from Santa, craft and story time workshops, and a 9D Cinema. The evening celebrations will culminate with the lighting of the giant Christmas tree, followed by a spectacular fireworks finale.
As part of Council’s ongoing commitment to support local charitable organisations, a Christmas Gift Appeal is underway, in support of The Salvation Army’s Toy Drive and The Children’s Hospital at Westmead.
“We are calling on residents to donate new, unwrapped gifts for children, including teenagers, and help bring some joy to families and children who are doing it tough this Christmas,” Ms Chadwick said.
Gifts for children of all ages can be donated at ‘Christmas in Parramatta’ in Centenary Square or dropped off at Council’s Customer Contact Centre or library branches prior to the event.
