One of the latest, in Macquarie Street, proposes a height up to 85 storeys, while two others in the same street seek heights of up to 60 storeys and 82 storeys, respectively.
The 18 proposals, mainly residential, are dispersed throughout the CBD and if developed would continue the significant alteration of the skyline taking place.
Meanwhile, the Joint Regional Planning Panel has approved construction of a mixed commercial and residential development of a lesser height, 22 storeys, on the corner of Wigram and Hassall streets, at an estimated construction cost of $31.2 million.
The applicant, Hassall Street Property Pty Ltd, has approval to demolish a three-storey commercial building, carry out restoration works to adjacent heritage cottages and refurbishment works to the single storey office building
A DA has been lodged for the construction of a 14 storey mixed use development at 107 George Street, at an estimated construction cost of $9.2 million.
The site is occupied by a part three, part four- storey commercial building containing Gold’s Gym with underground basement parking.
A DA has also been lodged for the demolition of the former single-story Australia Post building, on the corner of Macquarie and Civic Place, with retention of the ground floor slab and hardstand carparking area.
The site, for a multi-storey building, is part of Parramatta City Council’s three-hectare $2 billion Parramatta Square redevelopment.
“Parramatta is booming … this is a city with no City Limits!” said council when endorsing a new branding campaign for the city with the tagline: “We are Building Australia’s Next Great City”.
The new brand campaign is intended as an ongoing strategic investment in strengthening the Parramatta competitive story, council said.
Appropriate funding to enable the implementation of the campaign and strategy would be sought through council’s budget process.
