The popular Featherdale Wildlife Park is located in Doonside, away from the bustle of the city yet close enough for visitors to travel from all over North Western Sydney.
Home to over 2,200 Australian native animals from more than 260 different species, Featherdale is a place where children and adults can get up close and personal with Aussie favourites such as koalas, wombats, emus and kangaroos.
Among them is Archer, the koala who just celebrated his second birthday. Hand reared by the park’s head keeper, Chad Staples, after his mother abandoned him. Archer has been voted the cutest animal in Australia and has even his own Facebook page!
Koala encounters run all day at the Park. These include the opportunity to pat some furry favourites free of charge. Featherdale Wildlife Park is the only Wildlife Park in Sydney to offer this amazing privilege.
There are also many opportunities at the Park to interact with some feathery and furry creatures.
Visitors also get a chance for just $1 a bag, to hand feed the kangaroos and koalas. At the Rapt in Reptiles session, visitors can hold a python or lizard; and there are many chances to hear the keepers talk about other animals such as echidnas; Ngukurr, crocodile; fairy penguins, pelicans, flying foxes and dingoes as they go about the daily feeding programs.
Featherdale is a family experience with some great facilities to either eat at an onsite café, or enjoy the day out in the shady picnic areas – all equipped with BBQ facilities.
