The UWS Gateway was setup to help organisations connect and access the expertise of the University.
It provides a clear access point for organisations wanting to develop partnerships and projects, commission research, recruit students and interns, access guest speakers and meeting facilities, or sponsors students. There are numerous other ways an organisation can work with UWS.
Suzie Wright, UWS Gateway Manager said: “We work with many external organisations, including businesses, all levels of government, not-for-profit/community organisations, the education sector and individuals interested in working with the University of Western Sydney.”
“Each enquiry to the Gateway is unique and requires a different response. Sometimes, it is a case of working out what the enquirer actually wants or needs before the enquiry can be referred to other areas of the University.”
Working with the Western Sydney community is core to the objectives of the University and is seen as a distinctive way of supporting the Western Sydney region. This is also important because it supports teaching and learning, and the exchange of knowledge, research and innovation.
UWS is located in Australia’s third largest economic region and draws students from 160 ethnic backgrounds, the majority of whom are the first in their family to attend university.
As the largest education provider in Greater Western Sydney, UWS leads the economic, social and cultural development of the region in partnership with industry, business, government, education and community organisations.
Connect with UWS is via the UWS Gateway – www.uws.edu.au/gateway or gateway@uws.edu.au or phone 9683 8161.
