Building fast-tracked as market responds

CONSTRUCTION of Thornton Central, the apartment and retail precinct at Thornton, North Penrith has been fast-tracked following stronger-than expected sales of the Stage One apartments.

The $62 million apartment and retail precinct development is a joint venture development between St Hilliers, a leading private construction and property company, and retail/commercial developers, First Point Projects.

Stage One of Thornton Central, designed by award-winning firm DKO Architecture, includes 151 apartments spread over four buildings with one, two and three bedroom configurations. Prices started from $295,000 and ranged upwards to $545,000.

St Hilliers’ executive chairman Tim Casey said: “We’re thrilled with the response from buyers at Thornton Central and look forward to commencing construction shortly, with our development approvals now in place.

“Residential apartment living in Penrith’s city centre is unprecedented; but we believe the market is ready for this type of housing product and amenity, in this location,” said Mr Casey.

First Point Project’s Joint CEO, Mark Hovey, said the key attraction of Thornton Central is its prime location. It is adjacent to the Penrith Train Station and the North Penrith commuter carpark; and has a high level of retail, commercial and public amenity.

“Thornton Central’s residential apartments have been carefully master-planned to integrate beautifully landscaped areas with cafés, restaurants, a gymnasium, a full-line supermarket, a hotel and other commercial spaces.

As a result of the success of Stage One, Stage Two residential apartment pre-sales are expected to start in mid-2015.
