HOME ENERGY ASSESSMENT APP

FREE program to reduce power bills
CITY of Parramatta residents can now save money on their electricity bills thanks to a free online app that will help households identify ways in which they can reduce their energy usage.

The Our Energy Future Home Assessment app enables users to assess and compare their home energy usage and then provides simple tips explaining how and where they can cut costs.

City of Parramatta Lord Mayor Cr Andrew Wilson said the app is a handy tool for residents looking to ease the financial burden of high-power bills.

“I’m delighted that we are able to equip residents with practical advice and effective tools to help them make a positive impact on the environment and save money at the same time – all at the touch of a button,” Cr Wilson said.

“Council is proud to support a tool that can make a difference to the hip-pocket of our community members by not only determining why their electricity bills are costing so much but suggesting ways they can reduce them.”

The Our Energy Future Home Assessment app was developed by local Sydney-based company Ecologic Apps for a consortium of city councils across Sydney including City of Parramatta and is part of Our Energy Future, a free service offered to local residents.

“The app is delivered in partnership with the Moreland Energy Foundation, a not for profit organisation working with communities to accelerate an equitable energy transition.

"The app will assist local Parramatta residents compare their energy bill to similar households and break down their energy bill to see the cost of running each appliance,” app developer Dr John McKibbin said.

“It then helps them reduce their bill through a range of simple measures such as energy plan switching, building improvements, efficient appliances, solar and batteries."

This free online help will contribute towards Council’s goal of reducing carbon emissions by 60 per cent by 2038.
